Our Nation’s Sons

A few years ago, I wrote a lyric for our soldiers. I thought today, Veterans Day, was a good time to remember the sentiment.

Our Nation’s Sons

It seems like yesterday
He was so young
Freckled and innocent
hitting home runs.
Now, he’s packed up his bat
and carries a gun
My boy’s become
Our Nation’s Son.

Our Nation’s Sons
all have different names
but the families they fight for
are one and the same.
We once looked down at
their heads on our shoulders,
Now we look up
to our country’s soldier.
I’ll be his father forever
but he belongs to everyone
My boy’s become Our Nation’s Son.

Now, his ball games are over
and the bleachers and cheers
are memories replaced by
tributes and tears.
I’ve never been more proud
of anything he’s done.
My boy’s become
Our Nation’s Son.

Remember our country’s valiant soldiers today and the sacrfice they’ve made for you and their country.
